Shark Key is the inception point for the set of islands leading down to the end of the road at mile marker 0 in Key West, or Cayo Hueso (Bone Island). This stretch of islands is the most notorious, known world-wide for parties and festivals, and the locals here fully embrace a very social, tight-knit community. From the lascivious annual “Fantasy Festival,” to the “Songwriter’s Festival,” to the World Championship of Powerboat racing, people flock in droves from all over the world to partake in the southernmost brand of partying.

You can find cuisines from all over the world, eclectic live music at any time of day or night, and the one-of-a-kind Mallory Square Street Festival at sunset each evening. Take a trolly ride around the island to learn about its storied past, tour Ernest Hemmingway’s home or take a picture at the Southernmost Point in the continental United States. The island culture permeates through Key West, and can be contagious for all ages.
